MIKE TINGLEY - THE ABSTRACT PRINCE

One of the most sought-after Dutch psychedelic beat albums was actually recorded by an American artist. Mike Tingley lived in The Netherlands in the late '60s, where he recorded his only album The Abstract Prince with legendary arranger Bert Paige and producer Tony Vos. Paige and Vos were at the time responsible for the largest part of releases on Decca and Philips. The album is a forgotten masterpiece. Original copies, when they show up at all, are being sold for hundreds of Euros. It's available again for the first time since its original release and has been newly mastered from the original tapes. Tingley released two more singles before disappearing from the music scene. The band would record two more studio albums after this before breaking up and releasing some additional reunion albums in later years.

Former The Outsiders frontman Wally Tax broke a nearly 15-year absence as a recording artist when he released Springtime In Amsterdam in 1989. It was a true return to form and received very well by critics and fans. Tax was one of the most colorful and talented characters of the early Dutch beat scene, but he died addicted and penny-less in 2005 at age 57. Available as a limited edition on green vinyl.

Paradoxalmente, a minha edição preferida é a primeira em CD da CBS nos anos 80 ... mas pareçe que se tinham enganado na velocidade do gravador original Ampex que utilisaram para a copia, o que em si é uma excelente ideia! Mas mais paradoxal ainda, é que apesar de se terem enganado na velocidade a duração do disco é exactamente a mesma que os outros

Das Boot is a successful German war film written and directed by Wolfgang Petersen, starring Jürgen Prochnow, Herbert Grönemeyer, and Klaus Wennemann. The soundtrack for the movie was composed and produced by Klaus Doldinger, known for his work in jazz and as a film music composer. The characteristic lead melody of the soundtrack, took on a life of its own after German rave group U96 created a remixed "techno version" in 1991.
