- the DAC of the Essensio is superior (technical)
- the Essensio has asynchronous USB input which should be better than Toslink
- the Essensio has 32 bit
- the Essensio does upsampling to 192/32
It should sound lightyears better - but it doesn't. This does not mean, that the Essensio sounds bad, far from that! As I said yet, they sound quite similar.
 

And I'm not dogmatic! I would really like to have a DAC which sounds better than analog. It's simply more convenient... 

The question is, why not use the TDA1541 instead?

I have got a tip to try this DAC and the investment was small, so I bought the kit. I am no DAC Designer...
